Posted by gmarkets on 5 October, 2007

On 2 October, South Australian Emergency Services Minister, Cannel Zollo, and CFS chief officer Euan Ferguson announced the fire season would start on 15 October in some districts, reported The Advertiser (3/10/2007, p.3).

Earlier than usual: This was up to one month earlier than the traditional start dates in the mid north, Yorke Peninsula, Murray-lands and Riverland. The upper southeast, Kangaroo Island, Mt Lofty Ranges and Adelaide Metropolitan areas would start their bushfire season on 1 November, while the lower southeast would start on 15 November. Eight grassfires were reported across the state yesterday.
