Qld Dept of Premier and Cabinet DG still wanted: job has been been advertised since May

Posted by gmarkets on 10 September, 2007

The position of director-general of the Department of Premier and Cabinet has been vacant since April when the state’s highest-paid public servant, Ross Rolfe, announced his defection to the private sector, reported The Courier mail (12/9/2007, p.4). Who wants the job: The position has been advertised – along with its $487,000-plus salary – since May. Premier Beattie at the time said he was hoping to fill the position quickly, but then last month said he was in no hurry. Current public works director-general Mal Grierson had been acting in the job, which is regarded as supplying the premier of the day with an all-round troubleshooter. Among the 20 or so believed to have applied were former Queensland public service mandarin Loftus Harris – currently with the NSW Premier – Queensland Health chief Uschi Schreiber, and Queensland Transport head Bruce Wilson.
