Costly spin: Esperance Port Authority (EPA) Board engages Purple Communications at $180 to $250 an hour

Esperance Port Authority (EPA) Board hired a public relations firm because it wanted to keep the public informed of progress with its clean-up of lead contamination, said Adele Farina, Parliamentary Secretary representing the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, in the Western Australian Legislative Council on 14 August 2007. Varying hourly fee: The firm, Purple Communications, were paid $180 to $250 per hour depending upon the consultant, Farina said. Esperance Port Authority (EPA) Board had engaged Purple Communications on or about 28 March 2007 because the Board considered it necessary to keep the Esperance public informed of the clean up activities.
